People ask me, “do you really like living in Berkeley?” The answer is yes; it suits me just fine, but perhaps not for the reason they think it does. I do not look back upon the summer of love with longing. I do not tilt at windmills in the desperate hunt for a cause. I do not plot my calendar towards the big week of Burning Man in the Nevada desert.

No, I like living in Berkeley because it is a village masquerading as a city. It is community filled with a diverse population: aging hippies, neo-goth homeless hipsters, the ubber-intelligent propeller heads from ‘up on the hill’, and the eye-candy that is the ever growing population of UCB students. Berkeley is a microcosm of society and its populace rages to either extreme. I like living here because Berkeley and its inhabitants make me look normal! Trust me, that takes some doing.
